It’s been an unusual summer, one that has left the workshop vacant for far too long. Among the many things I want to do, one requires lettercarving at a small scale. While practicing these 1/2 inch high letters, I made a Round TUIT.
The disc is turned from Cherry, 2 1/4″ in diameter, and 3/16″ thick.
Now that I’ve got a round tuit, maybe I can get to some of the other projects. (After one more outside non-woodworking project.)

Not only do the letters look good the star is even better. I would a bucket full of the round TUITs to just catch up with what I have on the A list.

Thanks Ralph!
I too want a bucket full.

Hey Bob,
I was looking around for a way to email you, but this seems to be the only way to send you a message. One of your older posts shows the Joe Collins Mainspring Winder. Now I have tried high and low to get in touch with Mr. Collins, but without any luck at all. I’ve tried to join the nawcc numerous times, but they have a glitch…etc and I can’t get a proper activation code…..anyway, all I want are the Winder Plans. Can you help me out with a copy or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance…

Hi Bob,
Just found your blog and you remind me so much of my dad. Unfortunately he passed 3 months ago. My husband and I are helping my mom clean out and sell his woodshop/boatbuilding inventory and while searching the internet for help in pricing his homemade planking clamps I found your blog. 🙂 I would love to use you as a resource if at all possible as I know next to nothing about boat building. Please email me if you are open to even a couple questions or have some links you could refer me to. Thx so much!
Sandy

Hello Sandy,
Sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a parent is almost a sure thing, but never pleasant.
Sure, ask away. … and show me a picture of those clamps. (You have my email address.) While, I’m not building many boats these days, the boat builders and wood workers always say “You can’t have too many clamps.”

that’s the nicest round tuit I’ve ever seen!

THANKS Bonnie!
I keep watching for, and liking very much, your watercolors. You need to post more!
