My box making work will appreciate these clamps. I’ll see shortly if 6 are enough. They are extremely light weight, have just the right amount of gripping strength (I think), and are quickly adjusted.
Plans and video instruction from Paul Sellers. Paul says these are easy to make and are inexpensive. They are. What he doesn’t say is they take a LOT of steps, which is why most off-the-shelf versions are relatively expensive.
Materials: 4/4 mahogany, aluminum bars 1/8″ x 1″ x 18″, 10 penny nails, bits of leather.

And aluminum that’s a great idea for the light weight.

LOL…these are best suited for a small production run for sure. If you are gonna build two, you might as well build at least six. By the time you set up for each operation, it takes just about the same amount of time.

A small box project in the next week or two will tell how well they work.
I’ve built mine a while back and I’ve had issues with the lever not grabbing the timber properly and springing back. To solve this I used leather in between with the swade part facing up towards the cam and it certainly fixed it. The only other issue I have with it when clamping it does tend to pull the work towards you so that’s something you should keep in mind. Other than that I think they are great and has so far served me well.
