Yes Al, that’s a foot. Three feet, a curve on each end, six cuts. The first one seemed to need a full Snicker’s bar. Sawing efficiencies were learned, leaving the last four cuts needing only a single Milky Way bar for the four of them.
Love the bow saw.. I made my first one based on Paul Sellers video and though I really haven’t found a use for it (much) it was the beginning to me making my own tools when I can’t afford to buy.
I’m planning to start a build of a lathe as well. I’m a bit hesitant to use a treadle design only because I have some issues with the strength in my legs so I very likely will eventually motorize it, but I’ll begin with the treadle design and go from there.
I very much enjoy your blog(s) Bob.. Very well thought out which is often one of my own shortcomings..
I’m sure you’ll enjoy your lathe building Marty. About leg strength…. more exercise often builds strength (at any age). This might work out to be a good thing for you.
Bob,
Gorgeous! The bow saw is quickly becoming my very favorite tool. I must try pine, as I used it only on hardwoods.

Bob,
The part you show must be the foot. I like the shape!

Sweet looking cut! I’m looking forward to watching this come together. Inspirational as always. Thanks.
